Welcome to Smokefree Cumbria

Smoking is one of the biggest causes of death and illness in the UK. On average around 900 Cumbrians a year die from smoking related illness.

Smoking doesn’t just affect your health if you smoke, but it can also affect the health of those around you.

The NHS offers a range of free and confidential ways to help to smokers quit, and you’re four times more likely to succeed with support.

Cumbria Stop Smoking Service

Cumbria Stop Smoking Service offers free and confidential help in a variety of ways.

  • One-to-one clinics with a stop smoking advisor
  • Telephone consultations, so you can still speak to someone even if you can’t go to a clinic
  • Work place group clinics

Your local pharmacy

Most community pharmacies in Cumbria offer stop smoking advice from a trained pharmacist. You can get advice and access nicotine replacement therapies.

Ask your local participating pharmacy for details.

Your GP surgery

Your GP or practice nurse will also be able to give you advice or information on quitting smoking and also prescribe access to nicotine replacement therapies if appropriate.
