Out of hours

We provide an out of hours emergency dental service through Dental Direct. The contact telephone numbers are:

North Cumbria: Tel: 01228 603900

South Cumbria: Tel: 01539 716822

  • Dental access centres complement existing local dental services. Along with the out of hours services, they provide urgent and emergency dental treatment. They are accessible to everyone, even if they are not currently seeing a regular dentist.
  • An emergency includes uncontrolled bleeding following an extraction, acute facial swelling and trauma.
  • All calls must be triaged in order to determine your level of need before an appointment will be offered (Triage is a process of prioritizing patients based on the severity of their condition).
  • All appointments must be booked through the dental triage team on the telephone number shown. We do not operate a drop in service.
  • Normal NHS charges will apply for treatment.
  • The access centres will not register patients for continuing care but will relieve the acute problem.
